Responding When Communities Need Help
Timely assistance to disaster-affected families, provided directly or in coordination with responsible authorities and community networks.
Floods, earthquakes and other natural calamities can suddenly deprive families of food, clothing, shelter and basic security. Timely assistance during such emergencies can protect health, restore dignity and help communities begin the process of recovery.
Nandam OEN Foundation supports disaster-affected communities either by contributing to appropriate government relief efforts or by providing assistance directly to people in need.
Depending on the nature of the emergency, relief materials may include rice, dals, edible oils, sugar, blankets and other essential supplies. The Foundation seeks to respond according to verified local needs and in coordination with responsible authorities or community networks wherever necessary.
How the Foundation responds
Respond to verified needs
Assistance follows confirmation of what is actually required on the ground.
Prioritise essential supplies
Food, provisions and basic protection against exposure come first.
Coordinate responsibly
Work alongside district administrations, authorities and community networks where appropriate.
Avoid duplication
Direct effort where relief has not already reached, rather than where it has.
Respect affected communities
Distribute in a manner that preserves the dignity of the families receiving assistance.
Maintain records
Keep appropriate distribution records for every relief activity.
Documented distributions
Each relief activity is recorded against the particulars alongside before it is published. Verified reports and photographs will appear in this section.
Where a District Collector, a district administration or a Police Department has participated in a relief activity, the coordination is stated factually, with verified names, titles, dates and locations. Such participation does not constitute a government endorsement of the Foundation, and no government emblem or department logo is used in the Foundation’s branding.
